YUMMY! Eleanore's first solid food experience

I've heard that you aren't supposed to rush starting solids, but El was showing all the signs of being ready (smacking her lips, getting hungry between feedings, sitting with good head control, observing what we do when we eat, etc.) so we decided that when she hit the five month mark we'd give food a shot.

So...last weekend she had her first tastes of adult food! Well, maybe not "adult food," because I don't know too many people who eat whole grain rice cereal mixed with breastmilk as one of their main sources of nutrition, but it's a start.

We were the classic first-time parents, videoing and and photographing the whole event. (Good thing for you, now you can experience it too.) And El loved it! She would grunt for more and even grabbed the spoon from me and knew just where to put it (the same place she puts everything else...in her mouth).

It makes me a little sad, she is getting big so fast. It seems like before we know it she'll be going to get her driver's license. I guess before we get there she'll have to master the "no pooping in your pants all over the place" thing. Anyone know of a pooper's ed course?

The first bite.

"Hmmm, that's pretty good!"

"Okay Mom, let me handle this."

"YUM!"

Boy I'd say she is ready, look at that wide open mouth! It's so fun to start feeding the solids. Wish I could help with the poopers ed course, but I've seen El do her stuff and she's a pro. So I didn't bring fruits on for a little while, I really wanted Thomas to LOVE Veggies and cereal, once the fruits came he accepted them easily but would still take the ol' veggies. Works for some? Doesn't look like El will be too picky so far. Hope this helps her sleep longer at night!

Baby Eleanore is growing up! It is exciting to watch the progress of children as they grow up and try new things for the very first time. Soon she will be running all over the place! She is a very cute little girl. Thanks for sharing her first with us.

Looks like she loves it so far. It makes life so much easier when you have a good eater. I agree they grow up too fast! She is so cute. I need the poopers ed course for both my children:).
