Today I ran in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K. I did it with a bunch of ladies I exercise with, and I completed the run in 28 minutes (not too fast, but I beat my goal of a half hour and ran the whole way!). It was really fun!
I learned today that the Susan G. Komen foundation was started by Nancy G. Brinker who promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. That promise became the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, which is now the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care and energize science to find the cures.
It was neat to see the hundreds of people there to support the cause. Best of all was seeing the survivors in their pink t-shirts. It is a pretty powerful event.

Yeah- I actually just saw Nancy G. Brinker on Oprah a couple of days ago (wierd, I never really have a chance to watch oprah anymore- that was a rare moment). It was a cool show- she actually had breast cancer, too. Anyway- hooray for you! Way to go! That is awesome that you got out and did something for yourself- I bet you feel great!
Races are so exciting and I bet the Race for the cure is extra exciting. I've always wanted to run one. Great Job! And good job on the couponing. I need to get better at it. It really does feel so good to get great deals.
Way to go Emily! But where are the pictures??? ;)
Kim -- I am sweater, so I don't take pictures of me after exercising. Haha! Maybe it will be worth photographing if I do a marathon someday!
I am so proud of you! Way to go! I'm glad you have the runners high. Maybe someday we could run a 1/2 marathon together (sorry-- a full marathon is out of the question for me!).
5K?! Great Job! I bet it was awesome to get out there run for such a great cause. Keep it up!
Thanks for checking out my blog. I couldn't understand what the big deal about blogging was. But, I got into facebook about a week ago and then blogging just seemed really cool. They are fun to read. So, I decided to make one. It will be really cool to save. I am excited to keep up on your blog too.
Way to go Emily, I maybe one day will get the ambition to start racing. I think it is awesome of those who do, and impressive you beat your goal. I bet it was a great experience. When's the next race:-)
Emily that is so impressive and you didn't walk once! WOW! What a neat accomplishment and to be part of a wonderful event!
One of these days I need to run a 5k too! If you can do it, so can I!

Good on ya', Em! I hope you had a lot of fun doing it. At least it's a good excuse to regularly get out of the house & do something you can look forward to & feel good about everyday. I'm glad you achieved your goal, what a great feeling!
