Sweet deals!

My friend Courtney has told me for probably two years how "fun" it is to coupon. I always thought, "Yeah right - I don't have time for that, plus, it is embarassing to stand in line with a bunch of coupons.." Well, then for the last month or so my sis-in-law Catherine has been doing it too, and I've been watching all the great deals she has been getting. So thought I would give it a shot. I wouldn't necessarily call it fun, but is definitely satisfying, doesn't take too much time and isn't that embarassing (at least when you don't know anyone behind you in line).

Take this for example. Today I went to Kmart (thanks Catherine for showing me the ropes and sharing your coupons!). They were having a double coupon event (every coupon you present is doubled). I got $148.41 worth of stuff for $47.03. That is pretty dang awesome if you ask me!

2 32-load containers of Arm and Hammer laundry detergent, 4 boxes of Multi-Grain Cheerios, 6 bottles of Scrubbing Bubbles, 1 bottle of Greased Lightening, 4 Ziploc vacuum freezer bags, 1 Oust carpet freshener, 2 Glade candle burners, 1 Glade candle refill, 6 packs of Icebreakers gum, 1 Neutrogena powder makeup, 1 Rimrell mascara, 1 box Kotex, 2 boxes 2000 flushes toilet bowl cleaner, 1 box Airborne medicine, 2 bags of fun size Butterfingers, 2 packs of Juicy Juice, 1 12-double roll Quilted Northern toilet paper
And, at the grocery store earlier this week I got some other great deals: $140.07 worth of stuff for $59.83.

4 pkgs of Pillsbury premade cookie dough, 2 bottles of Ocean Spray cranberry juice, 2 boxes of Captain Crunch, 2 boxes of Quaker Oatmeal Squares, 40 bottles of Earth's Best baby food, 2 packages of Dole fruit, 4 boxes of Toaster Strudels, 4 boxes of Green Giant frozen vegetables, 2 bags of Pillsbury biscuits, 6 bags of Viola dinners, 1 gallon of milk (no they didn't sell me the milk half full for a special price, we drank some of it before I decided to blog my great deals!)

Of course, I'm still going to have to purchase other groceries, but this puts me ahead in a lot of areas. I guess it is kind of fun to save money! So, clip your coupons (or print them, Kmart will take your printable coupons), and head out to save some cash!

P.S. I didn't even take a pic of all the great deals at CVS (I've gotten tons of great stuff like toothpaste (6 tubes), deodorant (2 bottles), make up (2 bottles), Arnicare (3 tubes), candy, 8 12-packs of soda, 2 children's soap and more for $16 total...whoa!

Holy crud, that's awesome. And I thought price matching was where it was at, but that has nothing on price matching. I usually price match ground beef or chicken. I don't get where you get coupons. I want to do the baby food one for sure if it is a good deal. I might have to research this a little more. Fun post, way to shop.

When I was as work today I saw Bryan sitting in his cubicle counting cash, must have been all the money you saved these past couple of days.

Gees...I'm feeling more guilty every time you mention this. I should just figure it out too...that could make a great Fri. night date, right? But then I guess we'd be paying the babysitter while we're saving on coupon money & maybe it wouldn't turn out such a deal. But when else would I do it? Time, time, time. But I guess you have to have a Fri. night date first before you can sacrifice it anyway.

Well, I did the case lot sale at Broulim's- does that count? At least it got us a little food storage (well, not really- it was mostly baking ingredients- doubt I could get one full meal out of any of it :)... anyway- this is cool- I want to get on the ball... we'll see- I am so bad at shopping & driving to stores!

This is really cool! I love a good bargain, but had no idea you could save so much at a time with coupons. You'll have to give me more details on how to do this. Thanks for sharing!

Uhh, you too? How do you have time to do that. I'm a one stop girl. I shop at smith's, I'm lucky if I even make it to the grocery store, and if I need it I just get it. Sad I know, but I did watch a little of Oprah today about thrifty people, so I better do something soon.
