We're gonna' party, like it's my birthday...

Eleanore's birthday was so fun! Probably more for me than anyone else. That's okay though, I really felt like celebrating. I am so grateful that Eleanore is part of our family and that she is a healthy, happy, smart little girl.

Shay, Saveyah, Shep and Major came down on Monday and we spent the afternoon at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. It was a really nice day to be outside and it was fun to hang out there together. We got to look in the circus museum which displays a really elaborate miniature circus, walk through John and Mable Ringling's mansion and have a picnic on the patio over looking the Bay.

It was fun to have Shay and her kiddos spend the night. Eleanore loves, loves, loves having other kids around.

After after watching the inauguration we spent the day decorating for Eleanore's party and then we went to the park for a while (it was too cold to stay long).

Here is Eleanore opening the card that came in the mail from Nana and Grandpa in Utah. It was so funny how she sat and looked it. It was like she knew it was special just for her.

After we got the party all decorated Shep found a way to entertain himself until the party started.
So did the babies:

Here are some photos from her party. We ate pizza, played duck-duck-goose and hot potato, opened presents and hit a pinata before the main event of Eleanore's cake eating!

With cousins Shep, Saveyah, Major, Jordan, Audrey and Jacob.
Everyone took a swing at the pinata.

Even Daddy!
The heart-shaped pinata was hard to break, but it was worth it for some great loot!

This is the fancy cake made by the caterer I know from work. He remembered that I missed our gala last January because I had just had Eleanore and asked how the baby was when I was scheduling some things for this year's gala. When I told her she was turning one he offered to make a fancy cake for just the price of supplies. It was special to have such a neat cake! (Can you see the bubbles on top? They are blown sugar!)

Then Eleanore got to open presents. She got lots of fun things! I have to admit new toys make my days more exciting too...since I am her playmate. ;)

And then....the succession of a birthday cake:

Whew! What a fun day. Hope you survived this long post (at least it was mostly photos). Just want to say we feel so lucky to have family nearby. Thank you all for coming. It meant a lot to have you be a part of what was a very special day for Eleanore (and Bryan and I). :) We love you guys!

Glad Shay and the kids got to be there. It looks like you guys had a great time. By the look on her face it looks like that "cake" was her best present! Pink looks good on her.

The fancy cake was awsome. It looks like it's almost as big as her in that one pix.

FUN! Your decorations are adorable. That professional cake is AMAZING. I love that bubble idea! Perfect for a one year old. I'm envious of the time with Shay! Those toys look like perfect toys for a 1 year old, too. AND- I love the idea of the picture poster... ah, the memories. Glad you guys had a fun time- you were a well prepared mommy to put all of that together! Very impressive! Eleanore will love to look back on it & see how happy & excited she makes her parents.

What a joyous day! I am so happy that Eleanore had cousins and her aunts and uncles there too!
Wow, the bubble cake was amazing! I loved seeing El's face as she dug her fingers into her cake...it's hilarious! What a cute girl. She absolutely deserved to get messy!
I totally agree with you Em with the birthday card from her Papa and Nana. She seems so thrilled that she got a card in the mail especially for her!
I am so glad that you made it an extraordinary day...one day it will mean something more to her, knowing all the effort that her parents and family did to make it a unique day.

It was such a fun party for us too--thank you for all the work you put into it to make it nice for all the kids, in addition to El. These are some priceless pictures!! We will remember it for a long time & laugh when we see them.

I'm so glad you blogged this! I love 1st birthdays, they are so much fun. I wish we could have been there. Bryan is awfully brave to be so close to the pinata while the kids were swinging.... is brave the right word? haha! I love the 'fancy' cake, it was soo cute. And of course the birthday girl, cute as ever and I love the messy cake pictures.
Give her big hugs and kisses from us!

Thanks so much posting pictures. I feel like a small part of it by seeing all those. I am glad Bryan didn't sustain any bodily inuries by holding the pinata. My mom use to do a picture wall for us too, I love that you did so much to make it so exciting for her.

What a great first birthday! I think the 1st bday is for the mom more than the baby. She's so pretty and grown up. I agree with about wondering where the last year went. I feel like I just had a baby. Great pictures.

Birthday's are the best. Looks like tons of fun. How come they don't let us eat our own birthday cake when were older. Somebody should change that. :)

I am still suprised she liked eating the cake and did not mind getting dirty! That was a fun party. Great for all ages.
