16 Months and Growing...

Yesterday I took Eleanore to the doctor for her 15-month check up (a month late). She received a clean bill of health, three booster shots and a chicken pox immunization. She had to get so many this time because when we were there for one-year appointment the nurse was out so they didn't give her any immunizations so this time we had to get those and we went ahead and did the 18-month shots so we won't have to put her through the drama more than once in two months...and believe me it was drama.

It was actually quite an annoying appointment because we got there on time at 9 o'clock and sat in the waiting room for 25 minutes then got moved to an exam room where we waited for another HOUR before the nurse came in. By this time we were well into Eleanore's usual nap time so she was already grumpy. When the nurse finally came in, Eleanore wanted NOTHING to do with the her or the doctor and was holding on tightly to my neck and saying "mommy, mommy." She was totally hysterical, even before the shots. I really can't blame her for being upset: sitting in an 8X8 exam room for an hour and half with nothing to do and then having strangers up in her face when she should have been sleeping and then getting four shots in her sweet little legs...I'd be grumpy too.

It was kind of funny actually because she was freaking out so much then we gave her some Tylenol and she totally turned the tears off and happily said "More!" That's my girl. Really.

Here are her stats at 16 months:

Weight: 21 lbs. 12 ounces (21%)
Height: 32 1/2 inches (95%)
Head Circumference: 47 cm (95%)

On the upside, the doctor was very impressed with Eleanore's communication skills (she said quite a few words -- i.e., no, mommy, no, daddy, no, stop, no, bye-bye, NO -- while she was throwing her fit and stopped long enough to show the doc all of her body parts).

So fun. Macy's about the same size, I think! (maybe not so tall!). It's funny- Syd's only 28 lbs... growing slows down from here out :). Glad she's a talker- more fun for you!!

Dr. appointments can be so hard sometimes. I always bring a few toys to play with or something to draw on (I still do this w/ a 4 & 6 yr. old) and a lollipop always helps. :) I'm glad it's all over for awhile, and that she is doing good!

Tim and I could totally relate to your 1 1/2 hour wait at the doctor's office!!!

So sad that she was grumpy and so ready to get out of there!! I don't blame her.
Eleanore is a growing chica!

BTW, I love El's photo shoot! She looks so lovely.

We miss you guys!

I seriously hate waiting for shots. It's so frustrating, but nice to have done with eh? She seems like a skinny tall thing:-)

She does talk really well. Too bad for the shots. I always feel guilty driving to the doctor knowing it is time for shots and them not knowing what is about to happen until the nurse pops in with those painful shots.
