Then on Sunday she ran around the house entertaining herself. She kept changing her shoes and was having fun, but the fun ended when she had her "fancy" shoes on and ran straight into one of the the dining room chairs, resulting in a black right eye. Then the next day Bryan was talking to his parents on the phone and talking about how El got her black eye. Eleanore was listening in and started running around again, reinacting the story, and ran straight into the recliner, resulting in a bruise on her left check.
I didn't think to take a photo for a couple of days, so it was looking much better by the time I snapped this, but this is Eleanore trying to close her eyes and show me her black eye.
Wednesday we got an exciting call that my sister was going to the hospital to have her baby. So, Eleanore and I headed to Orlando to meet them at the hospital and take the older kids home for the night. El was excited to see her cousins, and was playing around with them in the hospital room when she fell and bit her lip open. Ooops...my toddler was starting to look like she plays in the rough side of the sandbox.
Then, Sunday Eleanore woke up with a cough -- apparently she'd picked up what I had last weekend. Sorry baby. So today was another Daddy Day. I had to go in to work, and I couldn't bring her to my sis-in-law's house with a cough and infect her little guy, so Bryan stayed home with Eleanore and played Mr. Mom. I don't think she (or Bryan) minded a bit. They had a great day playing Little People, building pillow forts and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Even bruised and coughing our little sweetheart is smiling. We sure love this girl!
(Sidenote: My sister Shay had her beautiful baby girl early Thursday morning. Unfortunately the baby gulped a little fluid on the way through the birth canal and ended up with fluid on her lungs, which landed her in the NICU on oxygen for four days. So while we were there all I got to see was pretty little Sicily Robyn attached to tubes and needles -- I didn't even get to hold her (and El didn't even get to see her). I am happy to report that I talked to Shay today and Sicily is doing well, breathing and eating on her own. Hopefully going home tomorrow! We were happy to be able to go and spend time with Shay and Ryan's older kids Saveyah, Shep and Major -- they are such fun kids. Eleanore loves her cousins!)

Ouch! Man, that stage is tough, all the bumps, scratches, and bruises gave people the wrong impression of my parenting skills I am afraid. So glad you were able to help your sister out, and hopefully things continue to get better for them. Glad you blogged,I've missed pics of you guys!
I am glad to here that Shay and baby are doing ok now. Poor Eleanore in that awkward toddler stage that makes them look like abused children. I know how that goes. Actually Jake fell off the top bunk bed this week and put a gash in the back of his head and the very next day he tipped over a chair while sitting in it and put two gashes in his mouth and one gash on the outside. I guess accidents never end with kids. Good luck~!
I love the first pic of El...she just cracks me up, she has the cutest face! But really, no fun at all to get hurt and then have bruises to prove it!
Glad you were there to help Shay, what a blessing!
oops, I totally meant the second snapshot of El! We love Eleanore hugs and kisses to her.
Poor little Eleanore! I hate that stage, it always made me feel like people thought I beat my kid!
Congrats to your sister!
