I love YW

A week ago Sunday I was released as young women's president. It was a sad day for me. I have been in young women's since my second week in this ward (first as first counselor and then as president) and have really come to love each of the girls. I've watched them mature and grow and become friends with each other (and two of them go away to college and one get married).

I knew the release would be coming since my family situation (three babies under two) wasn't going to accommodate the time and dedication the girls deserve much longer, and I am sure it is the right thing, but I am sad to be out of the program.

The picture below is ridiculous...but a funny memory. Just a couple weeks ago (the Wednesday before I got released) we had a sleepover to say good-bye to Rebekka (the girl in front) who just left for BYU. As the night progressed we got sillier (typical sleepover). We were playing Rock Band and decided to dress up and make a music video to Girls Just Want to Have Fun. This is us dressed in the best Cyndi Lauper attire we could pull together at 1 a.m. It was a very fun and memorable night.

I'll miss the girls but we are good enough friends that I don't think our relationship will change. I look forward to watching where each of them go over the next few years.

Oh man you are wonder woman. I am sure the girls will miss you so much. I was laughing hearing about your sleepover. I wish I would have had a young womans president like you! I didn't realize you were president though. Between you and Bryan you guys were probably soooo busy. Now you have a little time to relax before things get more busy eh?

Hey, how come Sister Buckley is hiding in that pic? I want to see HER Cindy Lauper getup, heehee... Those girls were very lucky to have such a great leader! I'm confident that your time was well spent... and I think your right, I doubt your relationships will change with many of them. I bet that was a bitter sweet day... good job on keeping it in perspective and taking things in stride to balance church and family. I always admire that about you!

Those girls will certainly never forget the relationship and the lessons you taught them!
I am glad you had wonderful experiences with them. I am sure you'll be missed but luckily they will be able to see you on Sunday.
What a fun pic with your girls, thanks for sharing!
