Gymnastics

I've been excited to let Eleanore try a few extracurricular activities. I think it is good for all of us to get out of the house and to ensure that she has something that is special for just her, since so much of our lives revolve around her little sisters right now. We've had her enrolled in gymnastics and swimming lessons at the YMCA for the last couple of months and she has loved it (although I'll say I don't think the swimming lessons are worth it...other than it committed us to take her to the pool).

At gymnastics she has practiced walking on the balance beams (which is actually really good at), tumbling forwards and backwards, climbing ladders, swinging on the bars, navigating through obstacle courses and...her favorite...jumping on a trampoline and into a pit of foam blocks. It is a parent-tot class that opened each time with teacher-led floor exercises and then allowed time for the parents to assist the kids at the various stations. Eleanore gained a lot of confidence by the end of the class and had a lot of fun. It was a little hard to manage it with the babies, but most of the time at least one of them was good to sit in her car seat and I'd put the other in a pack, so it worked out fine.

Tonight she had her closing "show" and got her first medal. It was a fun night and fun experience over the last several weeks.

And just what would a post be without a funny pic or two with these two? Hre are Ivy and Maya hanging with Dad at the gymnastics show tonight. Maya cracks me up...those cheeks are reminiscent of those of my little sis Mims as a baby....I love them and I love all of my girls!
