Our first "hurricane"

Earlier this week we thought we were going to experience our first hurricane. So, we made all the proper preperations: pulled out our 72-hour kits, put the storm shutters on the house, filled our gas tanks, etc.

All for what? A little rain and wind -- not even as bad as the thunderstorms we get on a daily basis. Tropical Storm Fay (she never became a hurricane) took a sharp turn and totally missed our area. I guess we were lucky, but in some demented way we felt a little ripped off. Not when we really think about it, who wants to be hit by a hurricane? But, it was a lot of excitment for nothing. Oh well, as Bryan said, it was good practice run -- and heck, we got a free day off work out of it. I am sure if we live in Florida long enough we'll experience storms of much greater magnitude than Fay proved to be.

The cutest part of preparing for a hurricane:

We felt the same way when we lived in Texas, but all in all we were glad we didn't get hit as hard as Mexico. Glad to see you were safe! :D Eleanore is a cutie!

Eleanore is irresistable in this picture. I love it! Shouldn't your landlady do all that storm stuff, that's too bad you had to, but I am glad to hear nothing happened!!! WE LOVE AMAZING RACE. I have always wanted to arrange one for a reunion or ward activity. So cool. What was the grand prize? Nice try Bryan, just blame the second place on a slow taxi driver.

Well, now you know that you are out and about experiencing the world... those shutters are pretty funny. Hopefully, if you ever do need them- you'll have enough warning time again to get them up. That race looks FUN- pretty intense for a company party! El is SUPER cute in that getup. Tights and long sleeves in FL? That must have had some effect, anyway. A sidenote- I think all these pics in Bumbos from everyone are pretty funny- can you imagine what are kids will think looking back- it is the oddest looking gadget, and I'm sure it will be replaced over the years... they'll probably be saying- holy cow, there's one of those bumbos from the 00's. hee hee.

Ashley,
The grand prize was $250 bucks for each team member. 1st runner up (Bryan) got a big old ugly trophy (now sitting atop our TV armour). Lucky him.
