Every time one of my brothers visit I get teased about the sign that hangs above my pantry door that simply reads "pantry." I guess it is an insult to to their detective skills to be told exactly where they can find something to eat. :) After two long days of canning (now a couple of weeks ago) I thought I'd give you a peak at what our pantry looks like with home-canned peaches and pears. We've been enjoying our fruit for breakfast and snack time and even in smoothies. I guess it just makes it taste a little yummier when you put the work in to get it - and it is nice that Eleanore appreciates it too.
Catherine and I canned nearly 50 quarts of each and made strawberry freezer jam. We learned a few things along the way (like that it seems water bath is better than pressure cooking for fruit). I think we may go for apples later this week (which I am looking forward to because El can go through applesauce like nobody's business). I also want to do some cooked jam. Here's to being domestic!

Wow you have been busy. That's great you can can. I haven't ever tried...one of these years :)
I'm laughing out loud to myself. I should put a sign over my pantry door too. :)
