The cast of our nativity pageant. Rob was Joseph, Audrey was Mary, Ty was baby Jesus, Jordan was an angel Catherine (and Jake..not pictured) were shepherds and Eleanore was a wiseman. Bryan was the videographer and I was the narrator.
After they went home Eleanore helped us leave out some cookies for Santa and went to bed. I don't think she fully understood the Santa concept, but she fully enjoyed going through the motions of it, I think.
Here is a sampling of what Santa left behind:
Cookie crumbs
And a play kitchen for Eleanore
When Bryan and I woke up we could Eleanore was already awake in her room so I went in to get her and I told her Santa had come. She got a terrified look on her face and did not want to go out of the room. Once I explained that he came and left and that there were surprises out there for her she was happy to go out and explore (although, sweetly her first concern was whether or not Daddy was at work).
When she saw her kitchen I'm not sure she knew what to think (I think she might have thought it was her cousins', which is just like it), but it only took a moment until she was thrilled to become "Chef Ellatony" and has been playing with it during much of her free time ever since. We are very happy with the gift Santa choose. :)
This gift has a story. Since before Bryan went on his mission he had a red polo shirt that he loved. He wore it very often. In fact, in my opinion a little too often. Over the years it began to wear out, but he still wore it a lot. He explained that it was made of great material and was so comfortable (LOL). Well not too long ago I had a wash mishap and the shirt was ruined. It honestly was a legitimate accident, but Bryan has teased me that it was murder in the first degree. So for Christmas I looked and found a shirt that I am sure does not have the same sentimental quality as old red, but I think is made of similar fabric and is much more bright. Now I hope this will allow his old favorite to rest in peace.
All in all it was a great day. We had fun celebrating together as a family and with Rob's family when they were with us. It was a special opportunity to reflect on the birth of our Savior and the gift He was to the world. Hope you all had a similarly wonderful celebration!
