SGOW

Bryan and I both feel very strongly about ensuring that each of children feel like they have an individual relationship with us and that they receive individual attention. I've had many promptings tell me that this is one of the ways that I will be able to help my children avoid the temptations of the adversary. With that in mind we've started a new family tradition: SGOW.

Each week one of the girls with be the Special Girl of the Week (SGOW) and get to go out or do something special with just Mom or Dad. It can be whatever is of interest to the child. So right now, while Ivy and Maya are still so young, it may be as simple as closing ourselves off in a room and playing just one on one or going to the park and swinging (or even running errands and getting to be held the whole time without being juggled with another sister would be fun for them). The point is that they get complete attention for a couple of hours.

Eleanore and Bryan kicked off the tradition last week and had a SPOW night on Friday. First they went to the park and played, then they went to McDonald's and got an ice cream cone and then they went to Target (Eleanore requested that part...lol, what funny girl). She was so excited to go on an "adventure" with Dad and I know Bryan enjoyed himself too.

What a great tradition. I agree that it will help them against the adversary.

I used to do daddy-daughter dates with my dad when I was little. I always requested we stop off at the ice cream store or 7-11 for slurpies. It was great. I still remember it today. One time he took me to a 50s diner and we danced. I still remember it today! I think it will provide memories for a lifetime!

Love this idea!
That's funny that El choose Target - that is something that Gabe would have chosen too! He loves going to Target to look at toys. :)

We do this with our girls too, they get to chose who they go with and usually an activity. they love it

Sounds familiar... DSP anyone? So fun that you are doing this! We should too. Syd gets quite a bit of one-on-one- but Macy not so much since she is younger. We should work on that! You'll have some great memories from this, I'm sure!
