Luau

Ohana
Saturday we had a ward Luau that I organized. My calling is Relief Society meeting coordinator, and the party started as an Enrichment Activity, but when word got out we were asked to make it a ward party. I am glad we did. It was really fun. A new family, the Eggs, moved into our ward and they were more than happy to host the party at their house (with a pool) which I thought sounded much better than the cultural hall. We had terriyaki chicken kabobs, pineapple upside down cake, Hawaiian sweet rolls, fruit kabobs, and salad to eat; swimming, slip and sliding and hula dancing for entertainment; and lots of good company. I would say my first activity turned out to be a success!

Maya, Ivy and Banyan (six weeks younger than Ivy and Maya) playing in THEIR pool).

Oh man you are impressive. We did a similar thing last week. Nolan's EQ pres, and was doing an EQ dinner then softball game, and the high priests decided to join, and then everyones families too! Whew it was a crazy day, but a lot of fun. Definitely makes you feel more a part of the ward putting something like that on. And happy 8 year anniversary! That's so awesome, and I love the picture of Elenore blowing a kiss to mickey and he responding. Such great memories!

Way Fun! Looks like you did a great job! The way the activities work out now, I guess it puts a lot of pressure on the few people that get put in charge of ward activities! You must have perfect weather, and what a perfect setting for a Luau!

Looks like a lot of fun. You are a great party planner. Looking forward in four weeks to seeing you all and partying too.

Hukilau is actually one word. It is the name of a beach near the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Oahu. A "Hukilau" was a party the church would have on the beach that became the forerunner of the PPC. It's amazing what you learn on BYU-TV! (And at the PCC)
