Happy Birthday at Cinderella's Castle

To celebrate our girls' birthday as a family we decided to spend the weekend in Orlando. We went up on Thursday, January 12 and met Shay and her kids to go to the Ringling Brothers' Barnum and Bailey Circus. It was really a fun night. The kids enjoyed the circus, but more than anything they enjoyed spending time with their cousins.
We spent the night at Shay's house and got up Friday morning and headed to Disney World Magic Kingdom for a big day of celebrating. The girls wore "It's My Birthday" buttons (although we were a day early for Ivy and Maya and a week early for Eleanore) and  the cast members (employees) wished them a happy birthday all day long.

We always enjoy Disney and feel really lucky to live so close so many neat attractions. Sometimes it is a little tricky because I don't think Eleanore realizes our special it is go...we try to tell her that lots of kids wait their whole life to go, but that is hard for a 4 year old to understand. Oh well, someday she'll understand and for now we have fun.

This day was extra fun because we went at our own pace and the babies were even big enough to do a few things that they hadn't done before (although it was too bad because it was really cold and although El is now tall enough for it, Bryan and I were to wimpy to want to get soaked on Splash Mountain).

We did nearly all the other rides we wanted to though (note to tourists: apparently mid January is not a busy time because the lines were not bad at all and we got lots done without rushing around).

The very special treat of the day was eating lunch at Cinderella's Castle. It was so fun (even for Mom) and, I think, totally worth the money. When we arrived we were greeted by Cinderella herself and got to have a professional photo taken.  Then we went up to lunch were the the other princesses stopped by our table and chatted with the girls and let us take photos. They gave each of the girls a wand and a wishing star and had a special little wishing ceremony. Then, because we were celebrating birthdays, the girls each got a special birthday cupcake and birthday card (signed by the princesses). It was really like magic for our little gals.

During the wishing ceremony.

I love this picture, shows just how magical the afternoon was...Eleanore was wishing with all her heart.

The favorite ride for us is always the carousel. The girls always say "one more" when it ends, and luckily today we were able to just keep riding five or six times since the lines weren't bad.

That night we stayed at a hotel, which is always fun.

The next morning we stopped by the temple and let the girls play on the grass for a few minutes.

Then we headed home. Since it was now the babies actual birthday we had a birthday cake (each girl got her own heart shaped cake) at home to finish off our special birthday weekend.

2-year-old MAYA!

Happy Birthday Maya and Ivy!

Sharing birthday cake, these sisters love each other. This was not a posed photo.
Eleanore showing that she is 3 years old for the last time!
(HAHA...check Bryan out in the background...now you get to see how he ritually finishes off the milk carton.)

How fun, and YES going to Disney World is a special treat because I'm betting my kids will never go there!

Oh my gosh Bryan drinking out of the milk carton has me cracking up. And I love that picture of the girls sharing cake, so sweet. It looks like such a fun celebration! I wish we could visit more often and were closer.
