I think we've trained her -- you know like Pavlov's dog. Every time she hears the pantry open (it is a bi-fold door with a very distinct squeak when it opens) she comes as quickly as possible with her hand out saying either "pease, pease" or "ack-er." Hmmm...at least she says please. :)
Another new milestone, she knows how to open the pantry (apparently bi-fold doors can be opened by putting your fingers under the bottom) and get whatever is on the bottom shelf out. She'll either bring it to me or help herself. That used to be the home of the cookies. I've since moved them up a shelf or two, but she doesn't care. Anything in a box looks appealing to her. I put cereal down there and she is just has happy with that.
One day when I had a bit of work do on the computer and Eleanore was entertaining herself. This is a rare occurrence, so I was trying to take advantage of the opportunity. I should have known better. She had found some chocolate cookies left within her arm's reach and had gone to town. I couldn't get upset. She was enjoying the "sweet" joys of being one year old, and really I should have been paying more attention. Had to get a picture of the innocent look on her face when she was busted at the cookie buffet she helped herself to.
Here are some pics of when Eleanore and I made cookies for a Young Women's activity. It was pretty fun doing it together...she enjoys sitting on the counter while I do things like this (I know it doesn' t look very safe, but I really am very cautious). This is the day that she discovered that cookie dough is almost as good as baked cookies.

HAHA! I love her chocolate covered face. Such a cute story!
Having your toddler on the counter is just the easiest way to have a happy toddler when you're trying to bake/cook!
We do it all the time in our home too!
El sure doesn't have the guilty look on her face in first picture! What a smart girl though!
