A float down the Disney Canal

In March Bryan was working long hours in Lakeland (near Orlando), so I decided to drop him off one day and meet Shay and her family for a few hours. After meeting at a carnival-type place (where Shep couldn't get enough of the race cars and monster trucks that they had on display), we decided to spend our time together at Downtown Disney.

Downtown Disney is a marketplace that surrounds a canal with lots of (overpriced) shopping. I've been there several times and it is fun to browse the shops, but this time was the best. Shay had the idea to see if they had boats you could rent to go out on the canal and they did. So off we went, through the Disney property (it is amazing how much there is that I've never even thought of).

The boat was pretty slow which I think was a bit annoying to our captain Ryan, but was probably a good thing since we had two wobbly one-year-olds trying to maneuver themselves around the boat (they already looked a little tipsy).

I thought the little ones looks so cute in the life jackets...Eleanore didn't even seem to mind wearing it.

All the kiddos enjoying the ride.

The scenery was beautiful -- didn't even feel like you were in the middle of Orlando.

Beautiful Saveyah.

The whole Smith gang.

A captain in the making -- Shep likes things that go!

It was the perfect way for the kids to enjoy being outside and with each other doing something new while Shay and I got to visit. I really had so much fun.

After the boat ride we played in the Mr. Potato Head store for a few minutes to cool off in the air conditioning before we took a ride on the carousel (look how tired Eleanore looks).

Then the last stop was the Ghiradelli's Ice Cream Shop for a cold treat before heading home. This store smelled great. A little memory of the Earthquake Sundaes the Toy Family would share in San Fransisco when I was a little girl.

Eleanore and I had such a great time hanging out with the Smith Family (we always do). It was a great change of pace from the long days alone at home we'd been having while Bryan has been working so much. Just wish he could have joined us in the fun.

What a fun day, too bad Bryan had to miss out on it. We have that same problem with Jared at our house.

We took a boat ride when we were at Disney that took us to Epcot from.... I can't remember Magic Kingdom or MGM, anyway it was a fun little ride and you get to see so many different parts of the park. I'm glad ya'll had a good time. :)

Looks like fun to me, how bout you convince your ol' cousin Jared to take his family down to Florida for a desperately needed vacation.

That looks like so much fun! That's a bummer Bryan has to work long days lately. That's no fun. But, that's nice you were able to break up a day with your sister. Those pictures in the life vests are super cute. I'm jealous of the sunny weather. We just keep getting a tease every couple of weeks.

Wow, you satisfied everybody with the boat ride down the canal! How fun for the kids and for you and Shay to be able to chat! So nice to hear that Eleanore didn't mind wearing the life jacket.
You guys always have something fun to do and cute pictures of the kids!
Thanks for sharing -- we love reading about your adventures!

That sounds really nice. Just chattin' while the kids enjoy the bost. I am so sorry Bryan is so buy. Totally stinks to go day to day without the hubby. Hope he gets less busy soon.

Very cute pictures! Looks like everyone had a fun day. The boat ride looks fun and relaxing. That is cool that Eleanore did not have a problem with the lifejacket. All of my kids would have complained about that.
