Vacation Part 5: Logan and Jackson Hole

After Heber  City we decided to head back to Logan to spend a few days enjoying our memories there. Since Bryan's parents' house is occupied by renters we had to get a hotel room. We stayed at the Old Rock Church Bed and Breakfast in Providence. It was perfect for us. We had plenty of space and they were super nice to us. The kids loved having breakfast delivered to our room and eating the fresh cookies in the evening. That night, the actual Fourth of July, we had dinner at one of our favorite places Cafe Sabor (we did entirely too much eating on this vacation), and then went and got some sparklers and small fireworks to do in the parking lot of the hotel. I loved watching the girls' reaction to the sparklers.

Everyone cheered for Daddy while he put on our little show.

Helping Dad.

The next morning we went to Logan Regional Hospital where I worked after college and visited some of my old coworkers and friends. Then we went to lunch in downtown Logan the Bluebird (the last place we met my Dad for lunch before he passed away) and walked downtown. It was a lovely afternoon. We went out to Mendon to visit our first land lady, Sister Miller, but she wasn't home. So we brought the plant we brought for her to our other neighbors Brother and Sister Ladle.

We stopped by the bridge that Bryan proposed to me on nearly 9 years ago.
Then we went to Mack Park in Smithfield and played on the slides, swings and built a boat to float down the stream (which was way too fast this year).

I love this photo!!! Too sweet.
That night we at Hamilton's Steak House, where Bryan worked before we moved to Florida, then went back to the the hotel and watched a movie.

Wednesday morning we woke up and Bryan asked if I wanted to go to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We weren't planning on it, but it is my all-time favorite place so I was all game. We made the three and a half hour drive, and the kids slept most of the way. It was pretty so it really wasn't too bad. Once we got into town we walked down to Yippy-i-o Candy Company and let the kids get some treats.

Then we headed out to the Bar J Chuckwagon for dinner and a show. This is one of my favorite places, where I worked the summer after high school.
We got to ride the wagon.

And eat yummy food!

And listen to great music!
The next morning we walked through the shops and saw these neat statues along the way. Eleanore was a such a poser for these cute pictures.

At Town Square.
That evening we saw the shoot out and then went to the Jackson Hole Playhouse and saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Eleanore loved the musical, singing and dancing and stayed the whole time. The babies had a hard time so I ended up leaving about half an hour early to sit in the lobby.
The next morning we went on carriage ride through town. It was so cute, Eleanore, Ivy and Maya were hanging their heads out the window shouting "Hi" to everyone, and everyone was responding. It was classic.

Maya loved the horses and was the only one brave enough to pet them.
After the carriage ride we headed back to the Logan to meet our old neighbors and great friends the Harpers and Ferrins at the swimming pool. Our swim only lasted about an hour before a storm rolled in and we rolled out. We then went and ate at one of my very favorite places, Great Harvest Bread, and walked through a sidewalk festival in downtown Logan. Although our families have all grown (we used to hang out three couples and now have seven -- almost eight -- kids between us) it still felt the same. We loved seeing them and had a wonderful visit. Once again we felt homesick.
Camille, Emily and Ashley

We found these funny shirts at the sidewalk festival and had to take a photo. The guys look like they are 12 and borrowed their Grandpa's fishing shirts.

Maya, Ivy, Grace Harper, Eleanore, Thomas Harper, and Tanner Ferrin (missing Lydia Ferrin)
After our visit in Logan we headed back to Salt Lake City to sleep near the airport before we flew out the next morning. The kids were so tired they slept the entire second (and long leg) of the flight, which was great!
What a wonderful vacation we had. It was both hard and refreshing to come home. We've already missed our family, friends and the beautiful west and are looking forward to when we'll see them again. Eleanore, however, announced that she was glad to back in Florida and was looking forward to sleeping in her own bed. I guess this is home to our girls, as weird as that seems to us.

Wow! I still can't believe how much you were able to accomplish! It all looked like a lot of fun, except for the whole stolen wallet thing. Sorry about that.

Thanks for posting. I've been wondering where you've been :)

Haha, glad to see that you all made the time to slow down and take pics with the statues! Great poses and smiles.
